Empowering Employees Through Career Pathing
Employee engagement across the U.S. continues to remain stagnant – hovering at about 31 to 33%, despite the topic’s trending status in management circles. In fact, according to Gallup, that percentage hasn’t budged since the year 2000, which means that for more than a decade only 1 out of 3 U.S. employees has been engaged at work. That’s astonishing, considering Gallup also estimates that disengaged workers cost U.S. companies upwards of $450 billion in lost productivity each year.
Thankfully, engagement is something that can be fixed by empowering employees through career pathing. By providing employees the power to select their desired career path, employees are empowered to achieve their own career and are engaged to grow within an organization.
Actively empowering employees helps shift their motivations, increases engagement, and bolsters their sense of self-agency and control over their lives. This, in turn, increases their motivations further, and transforms them into productive, loyal employees who are inspired to make a lasting impact in their careers.
An effective career pathing program empowers employees by giving them the insight, motivation, and guidance they need to set goals and propel themselves toward success.Employees with career path plans see themselves as in control of their careers, and are excited to follow their individual paths. Better yet, which each movement forward, their engagement grows – which means companies reap the immense benefits of improved workplace morale and increased productivity. That’s a win-win any way you look at it.
